Private James Bingham

 

The background of this man is not known at present.

James Bingham enlisted in the North Irish Horse at Antrim on 2 September 1916 (No.2265). He was described as being 5' 9ΒΌ" tall, with a large scald scar over the back and side of one knee. He gave his birthplace as Shankill, Antrim, and his occupation as a pig dealer.

Bingham was reported to have deserted from the regiment's reserve base at Antrim on 25 November 1916. It is not known if he was subsequently apprehended or returned to duty.
